George takes P4 in qualifying ahead of Formula One’s Spanish Grand Prix.

For the final practice session of the weekend, George made a steady start to Saturday as he joined the session on a set of Soft Pirelli tyres to set his benchmark lap time of 1.21.139 and into P3.

As the track continued to develop, George’s lap time continued to fall with the Brit delivering his best lap time of 1.19.920 to move himself up to P2 but was pushed down one place, ending the session in P3.

In qualifying, George set about securing his place in Q2, putting in a 1.20.218 on his first run to place him into P4 where he ended the Q1 session and move into Q2.

In Q2, the team opted for one run with George quickly placing himself at the top of the timings.

As the rest of the field began delivering their fastest laps, George was pushed down into P3, claiming his spot in the final qualifying session.

For Q3, George began his charge for the front row as he put himself into P2 on his initial run before being pushed down the P6.

In the final minute of the session, the Brit delivered his best lap of the session to boost him into P4 and a second-row grid start, his best.

Today was a good step in the right direction. It's our best qualifying position as a team this season, ahead of one Red Bull, and a positive session for us as we've finally got a good baseline. The pace gap to Ferrari on pole is still big, but there was more potential for us, too - the tyres were not in a perfect window and that made it tricky, especially in Q3.
There's a long race ahead tomorrow and I think we'll be in a better place then - while some of the cars around us are a bit of an unknown. And on the development, we've finally now got a good baseline, and we need to continue this path and find more performance.
