George makes seventh consecutive Q2 appearance to qualify in P14 ahead of Formula One’s French Grand Prix.

With calmer track conditions, George and his Williams team were fully focused on extending the Brit’s impressive qualifying record.

Despite two separate red flag incidents, one of which brought the Q1 session to a premature end, George was able to advance into Q2 for the seventh consecutive time with a 1:33.060 lap time.

In Q2, the British driver and his Williams team opted to run a used Soft compound Pirelli tyre for his first run before switching to a new set of Medium compound Pirellis.

George was able to put together a 1:32.065 lap time to move into P14 where he ended the short session.

George Russell – Williams Racing Driver

“It was a good session, but a little scrappy with the red flags and the traffic to deal with. My lap in Q2 wasn’t as good as I would have liked; it was my first real laps on the medium tyre and they take a bit of getting used to, so I think there were still a couple more tenths in there if I’m honest. Nevertheless, P14 is a good qualifying result and we’re putting a lot of effort into our race pace and trying to improve our Sunday performance, so hopefully we can make it count tomorrow.”

The French GP will get underway at 2pm BST on Sunday June 20.
