George Russell will test for Sahara Force India Formula One Team at the Circuit de Catalunya Pirelli tyre test session, following the Spanish Grand Prix on 15th May.

This will be Russell's first drive in the VJM11 Sahara Force India car, as well as his first outing in Formula 1 machinery in the 2018 season.

Russell has been working with the team in the Simulator since the tail end of the 2017 season, where he also tested for the team in two official Formula 1 Free Practice sessions at Interlagos, Brazil and the Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi.

Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport Reserve Driver Russell, will be driving the VJM11 at the test in support of Pirelli’s 2018 tyre testing programme on Tuesday 15th May, while Sahara Force India Reserve Driver Nicholas Latifi will take over on Wednesday.

It will cap off a busy weekend for Russell, as he will be competing in FIA Formula 2 over the same weekend. Russell will be going into the round fresh off the back of his maiden victory in the championship - following a dominant performance in the Sprint Race at Baku, Azerbaijan.

George Russell "I'm extremely pleased to be back in the car for Sahara Force India during their Pirelli test in Barcelona.
Sahara Force India gave me my first opportunity of driving in a Formula 1 race weekend last year, so I have a fantastic feeling within the team and I'm looking forward to developing our relationship even further throughout 2018.
I would like to thank the whole team for the opportunity."
