George Russell sets a new, unofficial lap record on the final day of testing at the Hungaroring with Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport, driving the W09 EQ Power+ Formula One Car.

George was behind the wheel of W09 for the second day in a row, completing 116 laps in total (508.2 km). His best lap of 1:15.575 was set on the 'HyperSoft' compound Pirelli tyre and is an unofficial lap record at the Hungaroring.

The team's main focus on Wednesday was on aerodynamic testing and brake developments and another area being worked on was general car set-up.

Following on from Tuesday's disrupted running - due to a minor gearbox issue and rain showers, the second and final day of in-season testing in Hungary was much more productive.

George Russell "Day two ran very smoothly and was a much more productive day for the team and me.
We did some runs on the HyperSoft tyre, which was an incredible experience for me. I had never driven that tyre before, nor a Formula One car in anything other than a race setup.
That was a great experience and it puts a smile on my face that we achieved the fastest lap ever around the Hungaroring.
All in all, it's been two productive and positive days and I can't wait for the next opportunity to drive an F1 car again."

George completed a total 165 laps at the Budapest in-season test, a total of 722.87km of testing mileage to round up the F1 action until after the annual 'summer break'.

The Formula One World Championship and the FIA Formula 2 Championship next hits the track at Spa-Francorchamps for the Belgian Grand Prix weekend from the 24-26 August.
George will be back in action in F2, where he currently leads the championship on 171 points - 12 ahead of his nearest rival, with four rounds remaining in the 2018 championship.
