George makes fourth consecutive Q2 appearance of 2021 to start P15 in Formula One’s Spanish Grand Prix.

George fought valiantly to pull his FW43-B Williams machine out of Q1, finishing the session in P14 ahead of Alpha Tauri’s Yuki Tsunoda to claim a spot in Q2 with a 1.18.445 lap time.

After making his way into Q2, the British driver wasn’t able to improve on his P15 position with a 1.19.154 lap time, finishing behind Alfa Romeo’s Antonio Giovinazzi in P14.

George will line up alongside Tsunoda from the eighth row on the grid.

George Russell – Williams Racing Driver

“I think getting into Q2 today was the maximum. We knew the car has never really worked perfectly around this circuit, relative to our performance elsewhere. We struggled a bit in FP2, but the conditions calmed down today. The car was in a much better window and we managed to out qualify cars like Tsunoda and Räikkönen, so overall, we really maximised today. It will be an interesting race with the warm conditions, and there is a bit of rain in the area tomorrow. I don’t know if it will come before or after the race but fingers it arrives and spices things up a little.”

George will be back on track for the SpanishGP at 2pm BST on Sunday May 9.
