George ended Formula 1’s season finale at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in P15, taking 18th in the Drivers’ Championship.

George gained two grid spots from P18 to P16 for the start of the race due to penalties for Sergio Perez and Kevin Magnussen who were both handed engine penalties.

The Williams driver ran until Lap 10 of 55 on the Hard tyre, pitting under the Virtual Safety Car caused by Perez.

That would prove to be George’s only stop of the race as he was able to manage both his tyres and brake temperatures.

George kept the Alfa Romeo of Antonio Giovinazzi behind him and the Brit finished just behind the Ferrari pairing of Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel.

George Russell – Williams Racing Driver

“I’m proud of the season we’ve done here at Williams. The team have worked their socks off to make the most of it. It’s been a massive step forward and we have to be grateful for that. It’s still not where we want to be, but everyone is working really hard to improve the car. It’s been an emotional and intense season on and off the track and everyone now gets some well-earned rest. Today, we made the most of it too. It was an optimised race, and we did the best we could, keeping some faster cars behind us.”
