George clinches his maiden victory in Formula One at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

After taking a superb Sprint victory, George lined up from P1 for the second time this season, opting to start on the Soft tyres.

As the lights went out, George made a perfect getaway to pull a gap between himself and teammate Lewis Hamilton before a collision between Daniel Ricciardo and Kevin Magnussen brought out the Safety Car.

On lap six of the 71-lap race, the Safety Car was removed, and George quickly got back to work to stretch out a gap between himself and the chasing pack.

The Brit maintained his lead until lap 25 when he dove into the pits to switch from the Softs onto the Mediums, re-emerging in P2 behind Hamilton.

Once Hamilton pitted on lap 30, George returned to the head of the pack to lead for another 20 laps until he made his second and final stop for Soft tyres, re-joining back into the lead.

A stoppage on track for Lando Norris on lap 55 brought out a second Safety Car, backing up the field for four laps whilst the stricken McLaren was retrieved.

As the race got underway again with 11 laps remaining, George made another fantastic getaway to eke out a second gap to teammate Hamilton behind.

Keeping the charging pack at bay, George crossed the finish line to claim his first victory at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

George Russell – Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One™ Team Driver

What an amazing feeling. A huge thank you to the whole team for making this possible. It's been an emotional rollercoaster, this season, this race. I felt in control, Lewis was super-fast and then when I saw the safety car, I thought this is going to be a difficult end. He put me under so much pressure. But I'm so happy to come away with the victory.
On the in-lap, all of these memories came flooding back, starting off with my Mum and Dad in go Karting, going through and all the support I've had from the rest of my family, my girlfriend, my trainer, my manager.
The likes of Gwen, who first gave me the opportunity to get on the programme with Mercedes, and James Vowles and Toto. I can't thank everyone enough.
