George is looking to put the drama of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix behind him as Formula One returns to the Algarve International Circuit for the Portuguese Grand Prix.

The Portimão circuit was a late addition to the 2020 F1 calendar after the Covid-19 pandemic caused a reshuffle to the calendar.

The 4.6km undulating circuit carries the reputation of a rollercoaster ride; with swooping blind corners and swift plunges to a long DRS zone along the pit straight.

George will be aiming to improve on his P14 finish from his last visit to Portugal and for an enjoyable race on the thrilling circuit.

George Russell – Williams Racing Driver

“I love Portimão because the circuit is very flowing and undulating. The corner types also allow you to do very different lines as they’re quite wide on the entries, there’s not one specific line to drive to go around the corner fastest. That really helps for racing as at almost every corner you can take a different line to get out of the dirty air. You arrive through some corners flat out and blind, not being able to see what is 200-metres ahead, but I think that’s what adds to the thrill of the circuit. It’s a fantastic place and I can’t wait to go racing there again."

George will be on track for FP1 of the PortugueseGP on Friday April 30 from 11:30am BST.
