George finished Friday in P17 as he refamiliarised with the Yas Marina Circuit ahead of the final race of Formula One’s 2021 season at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

George did not take part in the first practice session as Williams reserve driver Jack Aitken took his place in the afternoon session.

George returned to his FW43B machine for FP2 where he quickly joined the track on a set of Hard compound Pirelli tyres before swiftly returning to the pits to change to a set of Mediums and place into P19.

George changed onto the Soft tyres to move into P13 on the timings by the middle of the session.

George amassed 29 laps of the 5.281km track, putting in his best lap time of 1.25.549 to end the day in P17.

George Russell - Williams Racing Driver

It was interesting trying out the circuit changes and I have to say I liked them. The track is now faster and flowing and therefore nicer to drive. Ultimately though, it all comes down to lap time. I was a little bit off the pace today, but I still felt that my laps were pretty decent nevertheless. We've got a bit of work to do to close the gap to Alfa Romeo and the midfield cars ahead tonight, but I think there is more lap time to come from me and it's only natural that you find more lap time throughout the weekend. The aim is to qualify well tomorrow; we will be working hard tonight to do that and end the season on a high.

FP3 for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will get underway at 10am GMT on Saturday, December 11.
