Jerez is unique in being the only circuit on the GP3 Series Calendar which is not run as a support event to the Formula One World Championship. This event is the second circuit hosted in Spain and one that all the drivers know well through the extensive winter testing that takes place at the circuit year-by-year.
The circuit is most famous in terms of motorsport for the infamous clash between Jacques Villeneuve and Michael Schumacher in the 1997 Formula One World Championship Finale - which the Canadian would go on to take his maiden and only Drivers Championship crown.
FIA Formula 2 and the GP3 Series will take place in this unique standalone event - where the drivers will experience previously unknown conditions with much different track and air temperatures compared to what they experienced in winter testing.
The short and abrasive nature of the track will make tyre management a key factor in both races - which can prove critical in the championship with it hosting the penultimate round of the series.
